2026 programme
Our 2026 programme is currently being developed. Due to the current charter restrictions on Iarnród Éireann, we do not envisage being able to run a railtour using iarnród Éireann rolling stock in the short-term. We have however a number of heritage themed-tours in the works for this year.

About Táilte Tours.

Táilte Tours CLG is a voluntary led initiative aiming to promote Irish railway heritage. Our board of volunteers currently consists of Niall Kelly, Alex Richardson, David Walsh and Wesley Molloy, all of whom have long experience in heritage railway, railtours and tourist train operation and management. Our aim is to raise awareness for Ireland's voluntary run heritage railways and museums, and we also aim to promote rail travel to those who mightn't otherwise use it, while also providing educational resources on Ireland's rich railway history. We are completely non-profit, all the organisation is done by volunteers in their own time.

We do this through holding railway-themed events, the first of which, in August 2022, was a railtour weekend from Dublin visiting Tralee by a diesel tour train and Dromod for a trip on a steam train. Since then we have organised several rail and bus tours from Dublin and Cork to all corners of Ireland, destinations have included Donegal, Waterford, Leitrim, Galway, Roscommon, Cavan, Kerry and Down.

The money raised from our first few ventures was used to purchase fundraising badges for projects at the Cavan & Leitrim Railway Museum, Downpatrick & County Down Railway museum, County Donegal Railway Heritage Centre and Stradbally Woodland Railway. These will enable the respective groups to raise an estimated €1,500-€2,000 each at no expense to them.

The funds raised from our operations are either donated to heritage groups and other charities or are invested back into the running and development of our own operations. All our team are unpaid volunteers.
