The Hills of Donegal Heritage Tour - Saturday 6th July 2024

THIS TOUR IS NOW SOLD OUT

Steam train

Our latest day tour from Dublin evokes the spirit of the old Great Northern Railway (Ireland) “Hills of Donegal” tours, taking participants on a day excursion from Dublin city centre all the way to Ireland’s most northerly county. Steeped in history and railway heritage, our coach tour will visit the Difflin Lake Railway in Oakfield Park for a trip behind the 15” gauge “Duchess of Difflin” tank engine, Ireland’s first new build steam locomotive. At Oakfield we have arranged for tea/coffee and sandwiches* for our passengers—all included in the fare. Oakfield is also home to one of the few licensed railway bars left in Ireland, should you wish to wet your whistle while there!

We will then head on to Donegal town to visit the County Donegal Railway Heritage Centre, highlights of which include original County Donegal Railways Joint Committee loco No.5 "Drumboe" and a working steam engine simulator!

Capacity on this trip is strictly limited so we recommend that you book now to ensure your place.

Our bus departs Connolly station Luas stop at 09:00, back for 21:30.

*If you have any special dietary requirements please advise us in advance.

Tickets are priced €79 each (including bus, Difflin Lake Railway trip, tea/coffee & sandwiches and visit to County Donegal Railway Heritage Centre).
