As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting Ireland's smaller railway heritage groups, Táilte Tours is pleased to announce it has made donation of over €1600 worth of enamel railway badges to Donegal Railway Heritage Centre. Depicting the County Donegal Railway's original steam locomotive, No.2 "Blanche', the badge was commissioned using funds raised from railtour and similar events around Ireland. It will be available for purchase from the museum's shop in Donegal town, and on their website.
The presentation took place in Donegal on Saturday 6th July, during the visit of Táilte Tours "Hills of Donegal" tour from Dublin to Donegal, itself evoking the spirit of the Great Northern Railway's excursions of the same name. Appropriately, the handover occured in front of the museum's 1907-built tank engine, No.5 "Drumboe", which itself hauled the last train on the former County Donegal Railways system back in 1959.

All proceeds from sales will go directly toward the preservation and restoration of the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre's collection. By purchasing this badge, supporters can help safeguard this cherished piece of history, ensuring its stories and experiences are preserved for future generations to enjoy".
