At the Model Railway Society of Ireland Exhibition in Dublin over the weekend, Táilte Tours CLG presented our friends in Irish Steam Preservation Society/ Stradbally Woodland Railway with a special set of enamel badges depicting their 1949-built ex-Bord na Móna Andrew Barclay 0-4-0WT No.2 "Róisín". The badge was commissioned using monies raised on Táilte Tours events; the badges once sold should yield several times this value for Stradbally and help keep their classic Irish narrow gauge stock going. The retail value of these badges is estimated to be worth around €1,600 for the Stradbally Woodland Railway.
The badges were handed over to Glen Murphy of the Stradbally Woodland Railway/Irish Steam Preservation Society by Táilte Tours director, David Walsh.
Speaking on the handover, Mr Walsh commented:
“It is a delight to partner up with Stradbally to produce this badge. Their line is one of the most magical preserved railways out there, and their fleet is special in different ways to the likes of Dromod, Donegal, Downpatrick or Suir Valley. “
And as for the badge, I’m very proud of it; it’s so true to life and I know it’s going to be a smash hit!
We look forward to calling in to see her in 2025".
The badge will be available from Stradbally's sales stands or online from our own site at https://www.tailtetours.com/shop
